Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nevada) has been re-elected to the Nevada State Senate, according to the Associated Press on Friday night.
The Democratic senator successfully fended off a challenge from Sam Brown, a veteran Republican backed by President-elect Donald Trump.
Rosen was first elected to the Senate in 2018, and this is his first time being re-elected.
Ahead of the election, the September Fox News Power Rankings deemed the November Senate race one of two “close races,” along with Ohio.

Nevada was a key battleground state for electoral votes, including the presidential and U.S. Senate races. The battle in the Nevada Senate was not considered necessary for Republicans to gain a majority in the Senate, but was being closely watched to expand their expected majority in the new Congress.
There were also several close House elections in the state, which were also expected to determine which party leads the House.

Rosen easily won the Democratic nomination for the Senate seat earlier this year, defeating unremarkable challengers Troy Walker and Mike Schaefer.
Mr. Brown faced an even more difficult primary race, with former U.S. Ambassador to Iceland Jeffrey Gunter running against him as the Republican candidate.
Mr. Gunter spent millions on attack ads against Mr. Brown, portraying him as a pawn of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
The primary election has become even more uncertain with President-elect Donald Trump's decision not to deliberate until the last minute.

Trump ultimately endorsed Brown at a rally in Nevada ahead of the primary, leading to Brown's victory by a wide margin.
President Trump-backed Senate candidates were unable to close the poll gap with Rosen, similar to the vote margins other Republican candidates across the country had with their incumbent opponents.
