Tragic Accident Involving Illegal Immigrant Driver
An illegal immigrant from India has been arrested after crashing an 18-wheeler into a stake, resulting in severe injuries to a five-year-old girl in California.
The heartbroken father is now speaking out as efforts to deport the immigrant are underway. The driver, Paltap Singh from India, had obtained his truck driver’s license after previously being apprehended and released by immigration authorities in 2024.
Dalilla, the little girl, now faces a future far different from what she had hoped for; she is unable to walk, talk, or eat normally, and she won’t be starting kindergarten as planned, according to her father.
On September 25th, the Department of Homeland Security acknowledged the devastating impact this accident had on Dalilla’s life.
Her father revealed that she spent three weeks in a coma and required nearly six months of hospitalization before the family could bring her home. During her hospital stay, she underwent a craniosectomy, and for four months, she lived without part of her skull.
Dalilla has also sustained a broken femur and a skull fracture, and medical professionals have diagnosed her with bilateral cerebral palsy and a global developmental delay, meaning she will need treatment throughout her life.
“Dalilla Coleman’s life was forever altered when an illegal immigrant driving an 18-wheeler collided with her and her family. This tragedy should have never happened,” stated Secretary Christy Noem. “This serves as yet another example of how Gavin Newsom’s California Department of Motor Vehicles issues commercial driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. How many more innocent lives must be affected before action is taken?”
The truck driver illegally entered the United States via the southern border in October 2022 and was released back into the country by the Biden administration.
He was apprehended by ICE in Fresno, California, on August 29th and remains in custody without any immigration proceedings currently happening.
