A 20-year-old man who was killed in a shootout while running from police in northwestern Indiana had previously resisted law enforcement, court records show.
The Porter County Coroner’s Office has identified Kaden Mura, 20, of Valparaiso, as the man shot and killed during a shootout with Valparaiso and Porter County officers on Thursday.

According to court records, Mura pleaded guilty last fall to resisting law enforcement, the Northwest Indiana Times reported.
An Indiana man shot and killed by police on Thursday reportedly had a history of resisting law enforcement.
Thursday’s incident remains under investigation, with the cause and manner of death pending autopsy and toxicology results, the coroner’s office said.
Indiana State Police, which is investigating the nature of the shooting, said officers were dispatched to the scene of a suspicious person with a handgun near Fairgrounds Park in Valparaiso.
According to police, as officers approached the suspect, he fled and a gunfight ensued during a foot pursuit.

A man, later identified as Mura, was injured in the gunfire and taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, state police said.
