Residents of rural Indiana cities are asking the government for help, many saying the influx of immigrants is overwhelming their communities.

“We need help here. We need help from the federal government. We need transparency between local officials, more information and communication,” said Dave Price, a resident of Logansport, about 125 miles north of Indianapolis. “is necessary,” he warned.

Appearing on “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday, Price relayed the on-the-ground struggles residents face as more immigrants flood into the area.

“I’m just not used to Logan Sports. [this]. We have had immigrants come to Logansport from the Mexican area for many years. As a result, many Hispanics have adapted very well to this region, and they have grown their businesses and earned the respect of Americans. We have respected them in return,” he said.

“But what we're seeing now is a little bit different. It's coming from third world countries coming to Logansport, and these people are basically following the local laws and regulations and how to behave here.” We don't know, and we just ask that, our local leaders, state and federal, look at Logansport, Indiana.”

The exact number of migrants who have flowed into the area over the past three years is unknown, but one local resident estimates the number could exceed 2,000, local media reported. FOX59 reported.

The situation was described as “unsustainable”.

“Immigrant spiritual leaders told city leaders that 5,000 Haitian immigrants had recently moved to the city, but the mayor said there was no way to confirm that number.” the newspaper wrote in a report published last week, adding that exact numbers are difficult to ascertain. This is important because Logansport's “budgets, funds, and services” are planned based on a census population of 18,000.

The report also showed that even Mayor Chris Martin remained silent about the number of immigrants in Logansport. However, he noted that traffic and school and hospital populations are “up 20 to 30 percent.”

Many immigrants are believed to have come to work at the local Tyson Foods plant.

When contacted by phone and email, the local distributor did not respond to questions.

While the crisis has reportedly caused several significant problems, including strain on local services such as schools, housing, and health care facilities, Logansport Memorial Hospital says there are other reasons for the spike in birth rates. He says there is a reason.

“Logan Sports Memorial has seen an increase in births this year, in part because local hospitals have closed obstetrics and gynecology departments. Dukes Hospital, a CHS hospital in Peru, closed in June 2024. Park View Wabash Hospital closed in 2023. Pulaski County closed in January 2022.'' Carroll County also has no hospitals, with LMH expecting 566 births, about 12% of them. We haven't increased Medicaid birth rates in 30 years. “This is placing a significant strain on obstetric care in Indiana,” the hospital said in a statement.

Price told Fox News that he is hopeful that positive change will eventually come.

“We just want people to feel safe here in Logansport. This has been a great community to live in, a great place to raise a family and a great place to do business for the past 100 years. “We want to continue on that path,” he said. Said.
