A SWAT team was called to the scene, and a sergeant made contact with the man and attempted to get him to put down his gun. But after about an hour, the man started walking, police said.

Police said a SWAT team officer fired a beanbag round, which caused the suspect to open fire and three officers to return fire, fatally wounding the man. Officers recovered a firearm at the scene.
