Indicted Mayor Eric Adams received a warm welcome Saturday at events across the city, but he also gave a glowing reception while deflecting questions about the massive federal corruption investigation and the chaos it has caused in his administration. I was welcomed.
Mr. Hitzoner was joined by more than half a dozen other New York-based members of Congress, including Representatives Grace Meng and Tom Suozzi, and Keith Powers and City Councilmember Linda Lee, in a gathering of 40 people. marched with the organizers.th The annual Korean American parade along 6th Avenue in Midtown.
Some onlookers shouted “we love you” and “we support you” to Adams, the first sitting New York City mayor to be indicted.
When asked at an unrelated Bronx event late Saturday about multiple reports that First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright would soon resign, Adams laughed off the question and said Monday morning that she would be “bright and early.” He said he looks forward to returning to work.
“I'm glad she's still working. She was working on Friday, so I'm looking forward to that,” he said.
“Don't get ahead of yourself,” Adams said a few hours earlier when asked the same question at the parade.
“We will make an announcement as soon as the personnel announcement is ready.”
Wright's expected departure comes a month after federal authorities raided the home she shares with her newlywed husband, outgoing school principal David Banks.

Sources said Wright was unhappy that Banks was shockingly forced to step down later this month, rather than in January as planned.
One expected participant who did not appear at the parade was Jumaane Williams, the elected official who would temporarily take over as mayor if Adams is removed from office or resigns.
Instead, Williams spent the morning attending the civil rights leader's birthday celebration at the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network headquarters in Harlem.
Sharpton said Post-Adams called her to wish her a happy birthday.
“He called me and said he didn't want to confuse his presence with my birthday,” Sharpton said.
“He wished me happy birthday and we talked.”
