Influencers Share Organized Anti-ICE Messages on TikTok in China

As notable users on the platform share nearly identical views regarding the recent actions taken by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a coordinated messaging effort from TikTok influencers seems to be overshadowing Chinese apps.

A video montage showcasing recent contributions from numerous TikTok influencers has exposed that many creators are echoing the same narrative, raising concerns about whether social media users are being financially incentivized to promote anti-ICE sentiments.

In one instance, several TikTok creators were seen equating illegal immigration to jaywalking, trivializing unlawful entry into the United States as merely a “civil offense” through nearly identical phrases.

“Being in a country illegally is a civil offense, not a crime. Do you understand what a civil crime is?” one user remarked.

Another influencer echoed this idea, saying, “Being undocumented isn’t a crime; it’s a civil crime. If you’ve ever jaywalked, guess what? You’ve committed a civil crime too.”

Another TikTok user questioned, “Have you ever exceeded the speed limit? Have you ever consumed alcohol as a minor? How about jaywalking?”

A fourth influencer added, “Being undocumented in America is a civil matter, just like a traffic violation.”

Yet another user, @chef_bai, with 333,700 followers, stated, “If it isn’t documented, it’s not a crime, just a reminder. It’s not a civil offense.”

A particular video shared on X compiled clips of 15 different TikTok users speaking simultaneously, showing their overlapping messages, which emphasized the common themes among them.

Additionally, there seems to be a push to call out TikTok influencers who do not address ICE actions in Los Angeles.

TikTok user @derqrodriguez, who has 268,400 followers, declared, “If these influencers refuse to engage, force them to.”

“We’re frustrated with influencers who remain silent while significant events unfold around us.”

Another user expressed urgency, stating they plan to “identify and confront all LA-based creators who are ignoring the current situation.”

“Where are all these big-name celebrities and influencers when people are being targeted in the US? You’re busy promoting products while real issues occur!” implored @elijaaahhhhe, speaking passionately to the camera with 433,600 followers.

In a similar vein, TikTok user @sarahsbooked_ remarked, “If what’s happening in the US is acceptable, then I shouldn’t speak again.”

Another user, @abbyrobinson71, commented, “If you voted for Trump in the last election, you’re a bad person. Continuing to support his policies makes you complicit.”

“You’re not kind for being neutral; silence can actively contribute to harm,” they continued.

Further, TikTok user @nathanjunp declared to 334,700 followers that those in support of Trump’s deportation policies are “fascists.”

A different TikTok user criticized Los Angeles residents with substantial platforms for choosing not to oppose ICE raids, suggesting they “don’t deserve their influence and should reconsider their stance.”

“Content creators, if you can’t even express a stance on this issue, there will be consequences,” another user cautioned.
