ING Appoints New CFO

Amsterdam,

ING has announced the appointment of Ida Lerner as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Lerner, who previously served as CFO for the Norwegian bank DNB, will take over from Thanate Putrakul, who is set to step down during ING’s Annual General Meeting in April 2026. This change was revealed back in July 2025.

Starting April 1, 2026, Ida will also become a member of the Banking Department on the Management Board. The Supervisory Board plans to propose her appointment as Executive Director and CFO of the ING Group during the Annual General Meeting that same month.

Ida, who has a background steeped in both Swedish and Norwegian culture, has been with DNB since 2007 and has served as its CFO since 2021. Before this, she held various roles including Head of DNB for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as Group Executive Vice President for Risk Management in London. Prior to her DNB tenure, she worked with HSBC and Nordea. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, focused on Economics, from Stockholm University.

Stephen van Rijswijk, CEO of ING, expressed enthusiasm about Lerner’s arrival, highlighting her valuable experience in large listed banks. He believes her deep understanding of European banking will support ING’s strategic initiatives and push for digital sustainability.

Ida herself shared her excitement about joining ING, emphasizing its commitment to growth, innovation, and sustainability—values she personally identifies with. She looks forward to collaborating with the Banking Board and wider team to enhance ING’s financial strategies while helping customers thrive.

Ida Lerner’s appointment has received approval from the European Central Bank.
