Interest in the 'Yellowstone' spin-off: Ideas, casting hopes, and what we’ve learned

Upcoming “Yellowstone” Spinoff Featuring Kelly Riley and Cole Hauser

Kelly Riley and Cole Hauser are set to reprise their roles in the latest spinoff of “Yellowstone,” sparking a wave of speculation and discussion among fans online.

This week, it was confirmed that Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler’s romantic storyline will carry on, following the conclusion of “Yellowstone.” The new series is expected to kick off shortly after the original show’s finale.

The narrative states that Beth and Rip are thankful for the peace they’ve fought hard to secure at the sprawling Dutton Ranch. They will face challenges, and, you know, do whatever it takes to survive in difficult times.

As for the spinoff’s name, there’s been some buzz. However, representatives from 101 Studios noted that the title “Rio Paro” won’t be used. Instead, they mentioned that “The Dutton Ranch” is a temporary working title but might not be the final title for the show.

There were earlier claims that this new spinoff would air in 2025, but Paramount has since clarified that we can expect it in 2026.

Interestingly, there are whispers about the setting not being the familiar Montana backdrop. A report indicated that filming will occur in Ferris, Texas, which could provide a fresh ranch environment for Beth and Rip’s adventures.

Additionally, it seems they are looking for characters reminiscent of Kevin Costner’s part for the cast. Fans are expressing interest in seeing familiar faces from the original series, including Neil McDonough, who played Malcolm Beck. He hinted at the possibility of returning, citing his character’s ambiguous fate.

“I mean, nobody really saw Malcolm Beck perish,” McDonough said, humorously adding his desire to come back. He even reached out to “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan, encouraging fans to rally for Malcolm’s return.

In terms of new additions, Academy Award nominee Annette Bening has joined the cast as Beulah Jackson, a dynamic figure leading a significant Texas ranch. Finn Little will also reprise his role as Carter.

The series will be produced with Sheridan serving as executive producer, along with Riley and Hauser, alongside a strong team of executive producers behind the scenes.

Looking ahead, Hauser expressed confidence that Sheridan has exciting plans for Beth and Rip. Meanwhile, Riley encouraged fans not to take every rumor at face value, emphasizing the importance of, well, managing expectations.

“I’m primarily focused on finishing the main show,” she shared. “There’s so much speculation, but we just have to wait and see what unfolds.”

The original “Yellowstone,” starring Kevin Costner, wrapped up in December after a successful five-season run.
