During a recent visit to a restaurant in Iowa, President Donald Trump was approached by a patron who asked if he could pray for him before the president’s speech near Des Moines.
A clip shared by White House aide Margo Martin on X captured the interaction, where a man in the crowd directly requested the opportunity to pray.
“Can I pray quickly?” he asked.
Trump immediately responded, “Of course! Let’s go,” as he lowered his head for the prayer to begin.
The prayer, though brief, involved others in the restaurant, expressing gratitude for the president and seeking wisdom, serenity, and protection. The man prayed, “Lord, we thank you for this president. Thank you for his potential. Grant him continued wisdom and discernment. We pray for hope and more peace, Lord.”
This sincere moment received several “Amens” from the diners present.
It unfolded spontaneously, just before Trump was set to launch his campaign for the 2026 midterm elections in the Des Moines area.
Following the prayer, applause and shouts of “Amen, praise God” filled the restaurant.
The White House had recently issued a national call for prayer and a spiritual recommitment as the 250th anniversary of the United States approaches.
In a statement, Trump urged Americans to pray for their country, emphasizing that the nation has historically drawn strength from prayer. He encouraged citizens to reaffirm their commitment to being “one nation under God” as the anniversary celebration nears.
The White House has been contacted for further details regarding the scheduling and nature of the visit.
