GOP Struggles in Recent Elections
The Republican Party’s performance has been disappointing throughout mid-2022. The anticipated “red wave” never materialized. Since then, subsequent special elections have only highlighted their struggles, with losses mounting in areas as traditionally conservative as West Iowa.
In the 2024 elections, Donald Trump secured Woodbury County with a significant lead of 60% to 37%. However, in a recent special election, Democrats managed to gain nine points in the same county. This marks a staggering swing of over 30 points, particularly considering Democrats don’t hold much influence over the electoral process there.
Republicans should find this alarming. If Donald Trump isn’t on the ballot, or if the GOP candidate lacks the strength of prominent figures like Ron DeSantis or Kim Reynolds, the party is at risk of losing voter traction. Without someone who can resonate beyond party lines, the Republican brand may weaken considerably.
Take Rep. Randy Fentra from Western Iowa as an example. He’s not connected to Washington, yet he believes he could be a fitting candidate for governor. This expectation feels out of touch and is met with skepticism from regular voters.
It’s critical for Republicans to embrace Trump’s agenda without hesitation. It’s all or nothing—either support it wholeheartedly or step aside.
The Implications Are Serious
The defeat in Woodbury County serves as a warning. If Republicans fail to adapt, Democrats may regain power by mid-2026.
Looking at Minnesota paints an even grimmer picture. The state has faced progressive upheaval, leading to dangerous situations, including violence against Catholic children during Mass. Politicians there advocate for a worldview that, unfortunately, leads to chaos and unrest. Yet, the Red States seem unprepared for the upcoming threats to faith, family, and personal freedoms.
Republicans can’t afford to appear weak any longer. Many within the party behave like complacent individuals caught in a cycle of regret. This lack of resolve must change. Candidates need to take action and prioritize their causes instead of circling back into ambiguity. They must position themselves as defenders against external and internal threats.
A Call to Action for Men
So here’s a challenge: This fall, consider dedicating at least as much time to your community involvement as you do to watching football. Strengthen your family, your church, and your neighbors. Hold your candidates responsible.
If not, the reality is that your children might miss out on the joys (and freedoms) that come with sports seasons and daily life.
