Iran Doesn’t Need a Civil Nuclear Program that Enriches Past 3.67%

In a Monday broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” a special envoy to the Middle East said Steve Witkov could not have nuclear weapons and would not require a “civil nuclear program that would enrich the past 3.67%.”

Witkov said, [relevant remarks begin around 3:25] “[T]There’s no bombs. Conversations with Iranians grow on two important points. One, like you said, they don’t need to enrich the past 3.67%. In some circumstances, they are 60%, and in other circumstances it is 20%. That cannot be done. And as they argue, you don’t need to run a private nuclear program that has enriched the past 3.67%. So this will be about verification of enrichment programs and, ultimately, weaponization verification. This includes missiles, the types of missiles they stocked there, and the triggers of bombs. And, as the president has shown, I think we are here – and I do go to work every day from him – we will see if we can resolve this situation diplomatically and in dialogue. The first meeting was positive, constructive and persuasive. ”

Witkoff added: “If you’re lucky enough to get there, verification will be a key point to earning this contract.” And the verification regime said, “There is a basis for positive consultations and if that doesn’t change, we will have to seek alternatives.
