Iranian prosecutor claims Trump's statement about stopping 800 executions is untrue

Iran’s Top Prosecutor Disputes Trump’s Claims on Executions

On Friday, Iran’s chief prosecutor retracted statements made by President Trump earlier in the week regarding the cancellation of over 800 death sentences. Mohammad Movahedi called Trump’s remarks “completely false,” stating that such figures do not exist and that there has been no decision made by judicial authorities in Iran.

Last week, Trump had expressed gratitude on Truth Social, claiming, “I greatly respect the fact that all hangings that were scheduled to take place yesterday (over 800 of them) were canceled by the Iranian leadership. Thank you!”

Movahedi emphasized the separation of powers in Iran, insisting that the country would not take orders from foreign governments. His comments were released through Iran’s judicial news agency, Mizan.

Reactions from the White House

In response to Trump’s comments, White House officials informed Fox News Digital that he is closely monitoring the situation. They indicated that all options remain available if the Iranian government moves forward with executing protesters.

Interestingly, they suggested that after Trump’s warnings, the scheduled death sentences for the protestors were not carried out. The officials believe this news might indicate a positive trend.

Death Tolls Amid Protests

In related news, reports indicate that around 5,032 individuals have lost their lives due to the crackdown on anti-government demonstrators in Iran. The Human Rights Activist News Agency reported this figure on Friday, adding that protests have been ongoing since late December.

Just a few days prior, the Iranian government had announced its official death toll, claiming that of the 3,117 who died, many were civilians and security personnel, with the remainder categorized as “terrorists.” The situation remains volatile and continues to be a point of international concern.
