Iranians Around the Globe Honor Strikes Following Trump's Announcement of Ayatollah Khamenei's Death

Iranians Celebrate Following U.S. Operation Against Regime

On Saturday, Iranians across the globe were in high spirits as reports emerged that the United States had initiated “Operation Epic Fury” targeting the Iranian regime. Notably, President Donald Trump later confirmed that this operation resulted in the death of Ali Khamenei, which added to the jubilant atmosphere.

By Saturday evening, multiple sources, including Iran International and CBS News, reported instances of celebration among some Iranians within the country.

A social media video, though unverified, showed people dancing in the streets. However, the exact timing and location of this footage remained unclear. The Jerusalem Post noted that certain videos depicted individuals setting off fireworks from their balconies and shouting to one another from their apartments. Similarly, CNN stated that there were outbursts of cheers in Tehran, particularly after the announcement of Khamenei’s death.

Another unverified clip circulating online showed Iranians visibly celebrating, with laughter echoing as smoke billowed from Khamenei’s palace area in central Tehran. According to the Era of Israel, there was footage from a school where students expressed their happiness in English, saying, “I love Trump.”

Furthermore, the New York Post presented a video from Tehran showing women joyfully clapping and dancing in the streets, notably without their mandatory hijabs.

Reports from Iran International featured scenes of celebration in Karaj, reflecting a collective sigh of relief at what many saw as an end to the “Supreme Leader’s” oppressive rule.

Operation Epic Fury follows a period marked by rampant anti-regime protests in December, stemming from an increasingly dire economic climate and widespread dissatisfaction with the government’s actions, which included excessive spending on foreign terrorism and brutal crackdowns on the opposition. The regime’s response during this time was severe, with estimates of casualties reaching up to 30,000, contributing to a growing sense of hope among those wishing for regime change.

Across the United States, gatherings took place from Los Angeles to Nashville, where Iranians proudly waved their flags. In Canada, crowds gathered in British Columbia and Manitoba to show support for the military actions.

One participant, Shervin Shahidian from Winnipeg, expressed that many Iranians both at home and abroad were rallying behind Trump’s stance. He noted, “We are at war, but are people afraid of war? I think they see it as a route to liberation for the Iranian people.”

An attendee named Nafiseh Kiiamanesh voiced her gratitude towards President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for their roles. “We’ve been suffering for 47 years under this regime,” she reflected on the struggles faced by Iranians.

In Europe, major celebrations erupted in cities like London and Berlin. Outside the Iranian embassy in the UK, demonstrators called for stronger actions to remove the current regime. One participant stated they had been advocating for external intervention to support the Iranian people’s fight for freedom.

The Berlin festivities were marked by music and exuberant expressions of gratitude toward Israeli leaders. Reports also surfaced of similar celebrations in Syria, where Iran’s influence has been deeply felt throughout its prolonged civil conflict.

The Pentagon’s Central Command characterized Operation Epic Fury as a significant deployment of U.S. military strength in the region. Following reports of substantial explosions in Tehran, Trump proclaimed a major combat initiative against the Iranian regime. Israeli forces were described as simultaneously targeting over 500 locations within Iran.

This strike came after negotiations that sought to dissuade Iran from continuing its controversial nuclear pursuits, which have drawn international condemnation. Despite discussions, Tehran remained defiant, insisting progress was being made without yielding on critical issues.

Officials hinted that the intensification of military action was due in part to concerns about Iran planning an attack on U.S. bases, spurring Trump’s decision to act.

On Saturday evening, Trump announced Khamenei’s death, describing him as “one of the most evil people in history” and framing this moment as justice for those affected by his rule. He expressed hope that this could be an opportunity for the Iranian populace to reclaim their country, indicating some members of the regime were seeking to avoid further conflict.

Trump also committed to maintaining military pressure “for as long as necessary” to establish peace.
