Iranians Indicted For Allegedly Hacking Trump’s Campaign: REPORT

A federal grand jury indicted a group of Iranian nationals on Thursday for allegedly hacking former President Donald Trump's 2024 presidential election campaign, Politico reported.

The Justice Department is expected to announce the charges by Friday. According to Go to Politico. The identities of the Iranians charged and the exact nature of the charges remain secret.

The indictment follows Microsoft's lawsuit in August. report Detailing spear-phishing attempts originating from Iran targeting senior presidential campaign officials. As a result of this hacking incident, confidential internal communications from the Trump campaign were leaked.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and U.S. intelligence agencies announced on August 19 that Iran was responsible for the hack. An FBI investigation traced the breach to Iranian hackers, but the details of the compromised information were not disclosed.
