Potential Military Strike Against Iran Raises Concerns

As tensions escalate over Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the significant U.S. military presence in the Middle East, there are growing indications that President Trump may soon sanction military action against Iran, which could lead to an extended conflict.

So, what implications does this have for the U.S. and the Middle East?

To delve deeper into this topic, Glenn Beck invites Jason Butrill, a former Defense Department intelligence analyst, to discuss what we should pay attention to in the coming days.

“Axios has reported that Trump is edging closer to major military engagement with Iran,” Glenn points out, then asks, “What does this all mean, Jason?”

Jason suggests we’re facing the possibility of a wider regional conflict, primarily involving airstrikes—something reminiscent of the Gulf War. “We’re significantly ramping up our military assets in the region roughly every 12 hours,” he notes.

However, he expresses concern that such a war with Iran would likely be complicated and chaotic.

Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations view Iran as a substantial threat and may find themselves pulled into a larger confrontation. But they are currently dealing with their own difficulties. “For now, they don’t have to directly compete with Iranian oil, given sanctions and low output from Iran. This lets them maintain better control over market pricing,” Jason explains. Nonetheless, if a war starts, the dynamics could shift dramatically, forcing Saudi Arabia to compete on oil prices.

If we are approaching war, Jason indicates, Iran will probably shift to a “survival mode,” activating strategies it has maintained since 1979 to consolidate its power.

“What does that look like?” he asks rhetorically. “It could mean closing the Strait of Hormuz or unleashing sleeper cells for various kinds of attacks.”

Following such moves, Jason warns that the U.S. would likely be looking at a major air campaign aiming to neutralize Iran’s missile capabilities and strategic movements.

Despite Trump’s promises to avoid long-term military entanglements, Jason believes this situation wouldn’t mirror other conflicts like Venezuela. “This is going to be a protracted affair,” he admits.

Still, Glenn has his reservations. “But here’s what I know about Trump: he typically avoids lengthy wars. He’s aware that prolonged conflict can have severe repercussions for him. So, what advice do you think he’s getting?” he questions.
