Islanders power play fumbles one of season’s biggest chances

This year, there are plenty of examples of islanders' power plays that have not been able to win their games.

This was the first example of the islander's power play actively losing the game.

5-5, the islanders absolutely dominated the blue jackets on Monday night. Playing ice, forechecking, dismissing the young emerging Columbus team and doing all the right things to extend the five-game streak to six.

5-4, they allowed predatory goals, momentum snatched momentum every time, blue jackets straight back into the game, opening the door for Columbus to come back to them, and the winner of the Adam Fanty shootout culminated in a 4-3 collapse at UBS Arena.

This loss not only means that the blue jacket is behind the islanders in the rankings, but also preventing the islanders from moving ahead of the rangers in the rankings and tying the Canadians at the point before Montreal faces the blues on Tuesday.

In other words, the islanders fumbled one of the biggest opportunities of the season with fashion that blushed the Wiley E. Coyote.

They built an early 2-0 lead and didn't give the Blue Jacket a quarter 5-5, but things started to happen as soon as Damon Severson was called to trip over Bo Horvat early in the second.

Columbus easily killed the penalty, and the islanders' disadvantage suddenly reached the power of chance.

Shortly afterwards, Fantilli cut the lead in half with a goal from rush.

The second power play got worse, with Boone Jenner tied the game from a short handle rush at the second 17:13.

Anders Lee brought the Islanders back 3-2 shortly after the match returned to even stronger, but damage occurred and the door was opened.

Even the five-for-fives, which the islanders had previously absolutely dominated, they were now pushed back into their heels.

The Blue Jacket gained momentum and tied the game at 7:04 at 3am, moving on to this goal 5-5, from a high in the circle on the right to Kirill Marukenko's rocket.

The islanders thought Kyle Palmieri won the game in 8.9 seconds in regulation when he flipped Alexander Romanoff's shot from the left past Elvis Merzlikins, but Romanoff's celebration of joy was shortened when the goal was swung due to interference.

The lengthy review confirmed the call and the islanders have increased the reasons for upsetting after a game that never reached that point.

In the second overtime, the islanders were unable to come up with a winner as both teams failed to take advantage of the chance before the Blue Jackets scored extra points in the skill competition.

The islanders have come a long way in two weeks to return to the race, but that is still worthy of applause.

They played with complete confidence in every aspect of the game on Monday night.

That was enough to throw away momentum from one of the best first periods of the season and then a two-goal lead.

The islanders were doing everything 5-5, so when their opponent becomes a man, they can't do exactly the same thing as going into the zone, collecting the puck and moving around the attacking zone.

It's hard to understand, just like everyone else to the player on the ice.

You could almost see the confidence wafting out of their bodies in whi.

The Power Play directly sacrificed two points on the islanders on Monday.

And saying that there's a chance of a playoff is not stretch at all.
