The noise all around Ilya Sorokin sounded like sobbing.
Sorokin suffered an upper-body injury during summer workouts but is not expected to miss an extended period of time, general manager Lou Lamoriello said Friday.
Lamoriello said Sorokin could miss a few days of training camp, but there are no current concerns about the season itself.
He's also skating now, which is a positive sign that he'll be available.
If the injury persists through the season, the camp competition for the team's No. 3 goaltender spot will take on new importance.
Marcus Hogberg, Tristan Lennox and PTO competitor Keith Kincaid are all vying for the title.
Sorokin himself, a 2022 Vezina Trophy finalist, is in need of a bounce-back season after losing the No. 1 spot late last season and being eliminated from his only playoff appearance.
