Israel continues to launch hundreds of attacks daily against the remnants of ousted dictator Bashar al-Assad's regime, with Israeli Army Radio calling it the biggest attack on Syria since the 1967 Six-Day War. I'm calling.
As Breitbart News reported on Monday, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) has carried out hundreds of strikes against military facilities in Syria following the ouster of Assad's regime by rebels. Israel targeted the Syrian Air Force, as well as air defense facilities, missile depots, chemical weapons facilities, heavy weapons, and other targets. Those attacks continued overnight into Tuesday, when Israeli airstrikes wiped out the Syrian navy on its Mediterranean docks.
The goal appears to be “to wipe out Assad's forces completely” so they don't threaten Israel or fall into the hands of rebels, a bemused Army Radio military correspondent Doron Kadosh said Tuesday. said.
Syria was once thought to be extremely difficult to attack from the air, as it cannot approach by flying low to avoid radar. Damascus is protected from the west by the anti-Lebanese mountains, including Mount Hermon, and Israeli aircraft must climb to high altitudes before entering Syrian territory. Past attacks typically took advantage of cloud cover and risked being detected by radar and surface-to-air missile systems.
But Assad's regime has been greatly weakened by the civil war, and Israel has enjoyed greater freedom over Syrian airspace in recent years, bombing supply lines to Hezbollah in Lebanon and Iranian military targets.
Since the fall of the regime and the withdrawal of Iranian forces, Israel has enjoyed full authority over Syria's skies and has been able to attack the remnants of the Syrian army and Iran's front-line air defenses without any resistance.
Israel's actions are reminiscent of US President-elect Donald Trump's advice after President Joe Biden's failed attempt to withdraw from Afghanistan in 2021. President Trump said the United States should bomb abandoned military equipment rather than see it fall into the hands of the Taliban. It could be used by Islamic terrorists or passed on to China or Russia.
