The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Tuesday that it had destroyed Hezbollah's underground command bunker in southern Lebanon, killing 50 terrorists and dealing another blow to the terror group.
The IDF said in a statement:
Yesterday (Monday), the IAF carried out a series of attacks in southern Lebanon against the underground headquarters of Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon, including Nasser, Bader, Aziz and Radwan forces in the region.
Over the years, Hezbollah's Southern Front has built an extensive network of underground infrastructure and command centers in southern Lebanon with the aim of attacking IDF soldiers in combat and carrying out attack plans against communities in northern Israel.
Yesterday, under the precise guidance of the Intelligence Directorate and in coordination with the Northern Command and Operations Directorate, the IAF destroyed this infrastructure and removed the operatives and commanders who were on the ground directing the attack on Israel. A series of attacks were carried out to eliminate them. These strikes support the IDF's limited, localized and targeted ground operations in southern Lebanon and represent another step in changing the security situation in northern Israel.
According to IDF assessments, 50 targets of Aziz's forces, 30 targets of Nasser's forces, and five targets of Bader's forces were attacked in the past 24 hours. In addition, about 10 targets of Radwan's military and Hezbollah intelligence headquarters, as well as about 30 targets of medium-range rocket units in southern Lebanon, were targeted.
It is estimated that at least 50 Hezbollah terrorists were killed in this airstrike, including:
* Ahmad Hassan Nazar, Head of Radwan Force's Bint Jubail Attack Division
* Hussain Talal Kamal, Head of Gajjar Division
*Musa Diab Barakat retires as head of Qajar division
*Mahmoud Mus Karnib, Head of Operations, Qajar Division
* Ali Ahmad Ismail, Bint Jubail District Artillery Commander
* Abdullah Ali Dakik, Qajar District Artillery Commander
The IDF continues its operations to degrade Hezbollah's capabilities and protect Israeli citizens.
said IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari during a briefing Tuesday night. added The command bunker was said to be the center of Hezbollah's plan to carry out an October 7-style attack on Israel, known as the “Conquest of Galilee.” He elaborated (translated by IDF):
Tonight, we can confirm that yesterday afternoon's airstrikes hit and destroyed dozens of underground headquarters of Hezbollah's southern front, including the commander responsible for managing the fight against Israel in the south. They were also responsible for implementing the “conquest of Galilee” plan.
…
Additionally, we have eliminated at least four commanders in the Ghazir sector who were responsible for the attack on the community of Nill's Ridge. Hezbollah's Southern Front, under the command of Ali Karaki, a terrorist whom we eliminated along with Hassan Nasrallah, has been conducting a systematic operation for many years, establishing an underground command center in southern Lebanon from which it manages attacks against the State of Israel. I went over. The terrorists we eliminated yesterday were commanders and operatives who on the day of the order were scheduled to invade northern communities in Israeli territory and kill and kidnap Israeli civilians. So far, more than 50 terrorists, including six senior commanders, have been confirmed killed in the airstrike. This is a significant moral, command, and operational blow to Hezbollah terrorists.
Israel also carried out airstrikes in Damascus, Syria, where Hezbollah's Iranian military advisers are believed to be based. It then carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in the Dahieh area of southern Beirut.
Hezbollah fired 180 rockets into the Israeli port city of Haifa during the day on Tuesday, a small number compared to the capabilities the group was thought to be capable of a few weeks ago. Most of the rockets were intercepted. Overall, the attack resulted in several injuries. Immediately after the rocket launcher, the Israel Defense Forces announced that it had destroyed the launch site from which some of the rockets were fired.
Schools will be closed on Wednesday in Haifa's northern suburbs.
