Israel Targets Iranian Military Leader
Israel reported on Tuesday that it has eliminated a significant Iranian military figure. IDF spokesman Brigadier General Effy Deflin announced that Ali Shamdani was killed at a location associated with Tehran’s regime.
“This marks the second time in just five days that the IDF has taken out Iran’s chief military officer,” the IDF stated via X. Shamdani, who was a key military adviser to Khamenei, met his end in an Israeli airstrike in central Tehran, based on precise intelligence.
Shamdani, who headed Iran’s central command known as Qatam al-Ambya, had been in the position for only four days before his death. He succeeded Major General Golam Ali Rashid, who was killed in the IDF’s first strike just a few days earlier on June 13th.
In his role, Shamdani was in charge of combat operations and reportedly sanctioned Iran’s military strategies, according to local reports.
According to NBC News, Israel seized the opportunity to strike “in the heart of Tehran,” catching Shamdani in a moment of vulnerability.
Iranian Leadership Reactions
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei confirmed through his English X account that Shamdani would take over Rashid’s role after the latter’s death at the hands of what he termed the “sneaky Zionist regime.”
In a statement, he mentioned Shamdani’s valuable experience, announcing his appointment to the Hatam Al Ambiya central headquarters.
Continued Military Actions
Since the initiation of Operation Raisinglion, Israel has been targeting several prominent figures linked to Iran’s military and nuclear initiatives.
In his comments, Deflin reiterated Israel’s commitment to “relentlessly pursue its adversaries,” utilizing its advanced intelligence, air capabilities, and intricate operational strategies.
