Israel Launches Airstrikes Against Hamas After Refusal to Reach Hostage Deal

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) resumed its attack on Hamas in the Gaza Strip early on Tuesday.

In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said (translated from Hebrew by government news outlets).

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have instructed the IDF to take strong action against Hamastero organisations in the Gaza Strip.

This follows Hamas repeatedly refuses to release the hostages and rejects all proposals he received from the US President's envoy Steve Witkoff and mediators.

The IDF is to achieve the objectives of the war as it has been decided by political echelons, including all hostages, livelihoods and the release of the deceased, attacking the targets of Hamastero organisations throughout the Gaza Strip.

From now on, Israel will act against Hamas while increasing its military power.

The operational plan was presented by the IDF over the weekend and approved by political leadership.

Israel had accepted, but Hamas rejected the proposal by President Donald Trump's envoy, Stephen Witkoff. Stephen Witkoff extended the ceasefire to the second phase. As reported by Breitbart News, Hamas instead proposed that only American hostages (one and four deaths) would be released. The Trump administration has rejected the deal.

Trump repeatedly warned Hamas that Israel would not restrain Israel from responding because it was deemed appropriate. Israel refrained from acting against Hamas given that the fate of the remaining 24 living hostages was in balance, but ultimately acted.

The IDF appeared to be preparing for a full reopening of hostility as Hamas placed the risk of a rocket fire from Gaza, which was still defeated and exhausted as schools ordered closed schools in communities near the Gaza Strip.
