Israel Strikes Senior Hamas Officials in Rafah Before Offensive

Israel launched airstrikes on Saturday to eliminate several Hamas terrorist leaders in the city of Rafah. Meanwhile, the world is trying to dissuade Israel from launching a widespread ground offensive in Rafah, the terrorist organization’s last stronghold.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (or Shin Bet, or Shabak) said in a joint statement on Saturday:

Earlier today, following intelligence from the IDF and ISA, aircraft attacked and eliminated Hamas leader Ahmed Eliyakubi in the Rafah region. Eliakvi was in charge of security regulations for Hamas officials and served as a senior commander in the Rafah area. During the strike, senior Hamas military operative Iman Rantisi was eliminated and one additional operative was killed.
