Israel To Hold 5 Posts Inside Southern Lebanon to Prevent Attack

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) will hold five strategic posts in southern Lebanon to maintain security and surveillance even after withdrawing from the region on Tuesday in accordance with a ceasefire with Hezbollah.

The era of Israel It has been reported Monday:

The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed Monday that they remain deployed in five strategic positions in southern Lebanon after the deadline for withdrawal on Tuesday.

Under a US-brokered ceasefire agreement in November, Israeli forces retreated from southern Lebanon for 60 days, and have been launching ground attacks against fighters from Lebanon's Hezbola Terrorist group since early October.

Hezbollah operatives were to leave the zone, and Lebanese forces had been deployed to the region within the same period. The original deadline had already been extended from January 26th to February 18th.

The IDF's decision to hold five posts apparently was approved by the Trump administration. According to the Israeli era, the posts are spaced roughly evenly along the length of the border with Israel in Lebanon's southern part of Israel.

As reported by Breitbart News, Lebanon enjoys higher altitudes than northern Israel (Galilee), and Hezbollah was able to launch low-flight anti-tank missiles in Israeli communities.
