Israeli attack on tent camp in southern Gaza leaves at least 25 dead 

Israeli forces attacked a tent camp housing displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Friday, killing at least 25 people and wounding 50, according to emergency medical workers in Gaza.

The attack took place near the southern Gaza city of Rafah, leaving at least 22 people dead and 45 wounded near a Red Cross field hospital, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said. He said on Friday.

Humanitarian groups said additional deaths and injuries were also reported.

The ICRC said “high-caliber shells” damaged its offices, which are near tents housing hundreds of displaced people, including hospital staff.

Relatives of victims who witnessed Friday’s attack told The Associated Press that Israeli forces fired a second volley, killing people as they emerged from their tents.

At least 25 people were killed and 50 were injured, the Associated Press reported, citing Gaza’s Health Ministry.

A spokesman for the Rafah civil defense force said the attacks took place in two locations in a coastal area near a Red Cross hospital, according to the Associated Press.

The attack appears to have occurred outside an Israeli-designated safe zone on the Mediterranean coast called Muwassi, it added.
