Israeli official attends court through Zoom after being arrested in a sex crime operation in Nevada

Israeli Official Arrested in Nevada

Recently, a prominent official from Israel was detained and charged with a serious felony involving a sexual offense, following an incident reported by Nevada State Police. After being released on bail nearly a month ago, he returned to Israel as planned. His court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday via Zoom, relating to his earlier arrest on August 27.

The official, identified as Tom Artiom Alexandrovich from Israel’s Cyber Bureau, was accused of using technology to engage in unlawful sexual acts with a minor.

The court expressed challenges in enforcing conditions related to his case due to the geographical distance between Alexandrovich and the court itself.

After posting a $10,000 bail on August 7, Alexandrovich flew back to Israel and couldn’t appear in court in person on August 27, nor could he connect via Zoom. According to the court docket, his bail was renewed before a review of the probable cause took place.

Reports indicate that Alexandrovich is set to appear in an arraignment hearing on September 3.

Importantly, Justice of the Peace Barbara F. Sifarakka underscored the seriousness of the allegations, instructing Alexandrovich to avoid any contact with minors and prohibiting him from using social media or dating apps.

The court acknowledged the complications involved in monitoring these restrictions, primarily due to Alexandrovich’s distance from the court.

During the hearing, the defense mentioned a polygraph test, claiming Alexandrovich passed when asked about sexual contact with anyone under 19 years of age. They noted that he had not been in court for nearly 30 days since his arrest.

An opposition hearing is set for September 24, with further discussions on October 1. Alexandrovich is expected to appear again via Zoom on October 6, when they will consider the date for the preliminary hearing.
