Issa Rae cancels sold-out Kennedy Center show after Trump takeover

Issa Ray cancels a sold-out show at the Kennedy Center as the Washington facility deepens after President Trump ordered the chairman of her own board.

“Thank you for selling out the Kennedy Center. [Me]”Ray wrote a message to 'DC Fam' in her Instagram Story post on Thursday.

“Unfortunately, I decided to cancel my appearance at this venue because I believe it is an infringement of the value of an institution that has faithfully praised artists of all backgrounds through every medium, the actor said.

“All tickets will be refunded. Thank you for understanding. I'll see you soon,” Ray told her.Over 4 million people Instagram followers.

The Ray Knicks' appearance, originally scheduled for March 16th, is the first example of a famous event that was cancelled in the wake of a dramatic overhaul of Trump's Kennedy Center.

Last week, the president announced that he had replaced several members of the Board of Trustees of the Performing Arts Agency and designated himself as its chairman. He later explained that Kennedy Center was also “woke up.”

“We took over the Kennedy Center. We didn't like what they were showing,” Trump said.

On Wednesday, the newly elected board filled with allies of the Chief Commander elected Trump as chairman.

Several stars who play various roles at the Kennedy Center (such as Benfold, Chondalaimes, and Rene Fleming) have announced they will leave after Trump's move.
