Meloni Responds to Fake Lingerie Photo Incident
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni recently addressed a fake lingerie photo of herself that circulated online, criticizing the creation of such “fake photos.”
On Tuesday, she shared an image of the altered photo on social media, which depicted her in revealing underwear. Alongside this, she included a screenshot of the user who allegedly disseminated the image, labeling the portrayal as “disgraceful and unbecoming of her official position.”
“There are several fake images of me being shared right now, created using artificial intelligence and falsely presented as real by overzealous opponents,” Meloni stated on X, as translated reports noted. “I have to admit, in this particular case, they have actually improved my appearance somewhat.”
She expressed concern over deepfakes, describing them as “a dangerous tool” capable of deception and manipulation. “While I can defend myself, many others are not so fortunate,” she remarked to her followers.
In reaction to her post, some suggested she consider involving law enforcement regarding the situation, though it’s unclear if she plans to pursue that course of action. Previously, Meloni had chuckled off a controversy involving a statue resembling her, using a laughing emoji in response.
Back in 2024, she initiated legal action against two individuals accused of creating a fake video of her that ended up on an adult website, with damages exceeding $117,000. Additionally, her government has implemented laws criminalizing harmful deepfakes.
The Daily Caller has reached out to Meloni’s office for any comments regarding the latest incident.
