It’s difficult to see Will Levis remaining with the Titans after his surgery choice.

Levis’s next appearance in an NFL game might come in a different uniform.

On Monday, he decided to undergo shoulder surgery that will end his season. This choice not only shifts his focus to the 2025-26 season but also leaves the door open for the team to explore new options at quarterback.

“What that means is straightforward. Comeward will be the starting quarterback regardless, so he’s stepping into that role,” NFL Insider Ian Rapoport shared on Monday. “This is about his backup, Will Revis, and his choice after talking with medical professionals.”

The Titans were optimistic about Revis becoming a key player when they drafted him second overall in the 2023 draft.

Levis’s future with Tennessee has looked uncertain after two inconsistent seasons, especially after the team made a notable change in April when they selected Cam Ward first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Now, it seems likely that Levis may have already thrown his last pass for the Titans.

“I think Levis’s shoulder was not in good shape. He was in pain and unable to perform well,” Rapoport noted, expressing surprise at the decision to leave Cam Ward as the sole focus.

Revis, who encountered a shoulder issue last season following a harsh fall in week 4, had been working through rehabilitation. He participated in spring practices and managed to play in eight more games despite not feeling well afterward.

The 26-year-old Revis, picked 33rd overall in the 2023 draft, was originally anticipated to compete for the starting position against Ward.

Now that he has opted for season-ending surgery, Revis may consider a return in 2026 or possibly seek an opportunity elsewhere as a quarterback.

Levis had some promising moments during his rookie year, throwing eight touchdowns and four interceptions while rushing for additional scores across nine games.

As he approaches the next season, Levis will have one year remaining on his contract, but once the $1 million mark is reached, it could become easier for the team to pursue other options.

In his second season, he struggled, ending with just 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 12 games. Notably, four of those touchdowns were scored before he sustained the shoulder injury.
