On this week's “Fox News Sunday” broadcast, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance said that the incoming Trump administration will “honor” those convicted of committing the violent act at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. “Clearly,” he said, “no pardon should be granted.”
Host Shannon Bream said, “On January 6th, President Trump says there is a process. Where is the line drawn for who will be considered for a pardon and who will not be considered?”
Mr. Vance said: If you protested peacefully on January 6th and were treated like a gang member by Justice Department Merrick Garland, you should be pardoned. If he committed violence that day, of course he should not be forgiven, and there is a bit of a gray area there. ”
He added: “We are committed to equal administration of the law, and we believe there are many people who have been wrongly prosecuted since January 6th. needs to be corrected.”
