Jack Osbourne Discusses Parenting Without a Nanny

Jack Osbourne has shared insights about his experience raising five kids without a nanny. He mentioned during a recent Emmy nominees event in Los Angeles, “Yeah. So we don’t do the nanny thing. I thought it was going to be way gnarlier than it is, but you find a rhythm.”

He and his wife, Aree Osbourne, have two young daughters together—Maple, aged 4, and 6-month-old Ozzy Matilda. In addition, Jack has three older children, Pearl, 14, Andy, 11, and Minnie, 8, from his first marriage to Lisa Stelly.

The family recently celebrated Maple’s first day of preschool, and Jack humorously referred to Ozzy Matilda as Maple’s “emotional support squad” in a photo he shared.

Interestingly, Jack noted that while he grew up in the famous Osbourne family, he prefers a more structured approach to parenting compared to what he experienced growing up. He remarked, “I’m a little more structured with my kids than my parents were with me. I won’t take them out of school just to go travel. We do a little bit, but I think structure is healthy.”

This past March, the couple welcomed their youngest daughter, naming her Ozzy Matilda to honor Jack’s late father, who passed away in July.

Before his father’s passing, Jack had the opportunity to inform Ozzy about Aree’s pregnancy. He described the experience of expecting a child amidst mourning as somewhat of a hopeful distraction for the family. “It’s awesome,” Jack said. “I think it’s been partly a healthy distraction, partly healing — probably in that kind of ‘full cycle’ category, in a weird way.” It seemed like this new chapter allowed them to shift some focus away from their grief.

Jack’s sister, Kelly Osbourne, has also been candid about the family’s struggles following their father’s death, discussing the harsh remarks she endured regarding her appearance during that difficult time. She admitted, “I didn’t navigate it — I wasn’t well. How can you navigate something so cruel when you’re so sick?” With her own son Sidney, 3, Kelly is prioritizing her mental and physical healing, acknowledging, as she reflected, that fixing her mind is crucial before addressing any physical challenges.

Jack himself hasn’t been immune to public scrutiny. He recently addressed body-shaming comments regarding his appearance after returning from a reality TV show. Jack posted on Instagram, expressing frustration over being labeled “grossly underweight” and assured followers that he hadn’t lost weight since filming. “I have lost no weight since I got out of the jungle,” he clarified, attributing his change in appearance to a simple grooming choice rather than any health issue.

In a passionate response to ongoing media criticism throughout his life about his weight, Jack pointed out the contradiction of being criticized even after achieving a healthy weight. “Get f–ked,” he said, emphasizing his irritation with the constant public judgment.
