Jack Posobiec Challenges Mamdani on Proposal to Increase Taxes for White Individuals

Controversy Over New York City Mayor’s Tax Plan

Conservative commentator Jack Posobiec has criticized incoming New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani for his proposal to raise property taxes in affluent, predominantly white neighborhoods.

During a discussion at the White House with President Trump and Mamdani, Posobiec brought up this tax plan that Mamdani had mentioned on the campaign trail. He highlighted that Mamdani seemed to advocate for “shifting the burden of property taxes” from minority communities to “white-based communities.”

“Mr. President, I wanted to ask about Mayor-elect Mamdani’s idea of taxing white communities more heavily, as he discussed extensively during his campaign,” Posobiec said. He also pointed out that in Trump’s acceptance speech, there wasn’t any mention of America, Christianity, or white individuals, which left him questioning if those were part of their discussions.

Mamdani responded by emphasizing affordability and the importance of property tax reform, saying that the current system in New York City is fundamentally unfair. He expressed his commitment to making housing regulations more manageable.

“Let me be clear: you are continuing the idea of race-based property taxes,” Posobiec pressed.

When Mamdani denied that assertion, Posobiec maintained that his statement was accurate.

Mamdani clarified that the term he used merely described neighborhoods, not the intent behind the policy.

Posobiec countered, “So, we are indeed increasing taxes on white neighborhoods?” Mamdani explained that his goal is to establish a fair property tax system that would make the city both equitable and affordable for all residents.

Reportedly, a proposal from Mamdani’s “Stop Squeezing New York City Homeowners” campaign materials promised to shift tax burdens from overtaxed suburban homeowners to pricier homes in wealthier, predominantly white neighborhoods.
