TPUSA’s Halftime Show: A Clash with the NFL
Jack Posobiec, a contributor with Turning Point USA (TPUSA), compared the organization’s All-American Halftime Show to a modern-day David versus Goliath scenario during an appearance on Glenn Beck’s program. He discussed the numerous challenges and resistance TPUSA encountered while organizing their national halftime show.
Posobiec described the experience as more complicated than merely receiving a disheartening email from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell indicating that they shouldn’t proceed. Rather, it involved a convoluted network of obstacles, he explained. “So, it wasn’t just that they told you to stop,” he mentioned, articulating how barriers came in many forms—be it restrictions on music rights, song choices, or even prohibitions against certain artists.
Praising the magnitude of their endeavor, he remarked, “We knew we were challenging the biggest cabal in America, which is, honestly, larger than the Democratic Party.” He elaborated, perhaps somewhat hesitantly, that they weren’t fully prepared for the level of pushback they’d face. “I think we were a bit naïve about how they would push back,” he said, highlighting the response they received when their viewership on YouTube set records.
Insiders allegedly informed Posobiec that NFL officials were displeased with the viewership numbers that TPUSA achieved. The organization reportedly drew over 5 million live viewers on YouTube, and concurrent viewership neared 6.1 million at one point. In fact, Posobiec emphasized that their numbers nearly eclipsed milestones set by events like the 2022 World Cup and India’s historic moon landing.
Super Bowl LX, he noted, was a record-breaking affair with 137.8 million viewers, and while the halftime show attracted about 128.2 million—placing it among the most-watched ever—it was clear TPUSA’s efforts gained traction in the midst of it all.
In the wake of the broadcast, TPUSA’s Halftime Show generated significant interest, racking up over 21 million views on its main channel afterward. However, notably, the NFL had a more substantial subscriber base on YouTube, nearly twice that of TPUSA.
The NFL did not provide any comments regarding Posobiec’s statements or the overall situation.
