Warning: Spoilers Ahead
If you haven’t seen the seventh episode of Season 3 of “Euphoria,” maybe hold off on reading this.
Jacob Elordi found the demise of his character Nate Jacobs to be, well, a “cool way to go.” After the episode aired, which depicted Jacobs meeting his end via a snakebite while buried, Elordi remarked in a post-show segment, “It’s cool to see it all turn out like this.”
The actor, who is 28, noted that Jacobs was a character filled with flaws and dark choices.
Reflecting on filming inside the coffin, he described it as a “peaceful” experience. “My shoulder hit my side and I couldn’t move my arm,” he said. “When they drilled the lid open, it was pitch black. Surprisingly, it was pretty nice. Very peaceful in there.”
Interestingly, the snake used in the scene was a real boa constrictor, albeit one with a fake rattle. Elordi called the snake “very cute” and said that while its noises could be alarming when it was, you know, locked in a box, it was also quite sleepy. He even had to nudge it to wake it up.
Creator Sam Levinson was keen on having a real snake, discussing the idea of giving Jacobs his “comeuppance” to satisfy viewers. He mentioned the challenge of delivering what the audience wants while also creating anxiety around it. “How do you give them what they want, but make it so scary that by the time it happens, they’re not even sure that’s what they wanted?”
Elordi described his character’s brutal death and his exit from the series as “bittersweet.” He reflected on how important “Euphoria” has been to his life and career, saying, “It’s been amazing, and I’m so proud to be part of it.”
Since its debut in 2019 and with the latest season finally returning after a four-year break, Elordi has been a consistent presence on the show.
The upcoming Season 3 finale is set to air on Sunday, May 31.
In the interim, Elordi has been busy with other projects, such as “Frankenstein” and “Wuthering Heights,” which have garnered plenty of interest.
Before “Euphoria,” he was known for his role as Noah Flynn in the “Kissing Booth” films alongside his then-girlfriend Joey King.
Currently, Elordi is dating Kendall Jenner and was recently seen vacationing in Hawaii.
The Season 3 finale of “Euphoria” will premiere on Sunday, March 31 at 9 PM ET on HBO.
