Jaguars lose in stunner to miss playoffs as Bills, Steelers clinch

The Jaguars' collapse is complete.

In a must-win game to win the AFC South and advance to the NFL playoffs, the Jaguars lost 28-20 to the lowly Titans, finishing in 9th place, losing five of their past six games and missing out on the postseason. It turns out. The season ended with a dismal 8th place.

As a result, the Steelers and Bills clinched the final two playoff spots in the AFC, with the Texans winning the AFC South and clinching the fourth seed.

The Steelers will be the wild card team, but the Bills can clinch the AFC East championship by defeating the Dolphins on Sunday night.

Houston clinched a playoff berth with a win over the Colts on Saturday night, and the Steelers' win over the Ravens early Saturday put them in position to make the postseason if they get the help they need. It actually happened.

Titans star Derrick Henry ran for more than 150 yards and scored a touchdown in the upset.

Trevor Lawrence threw two touchdowns and two interceptions, marking the third time in his past four appearances that he has thrown multiple interceptions in a game.

The Jaguars were 8-3 in Week 12 and appeared to be the favorites to win the AFC South as well as have a chance to compete for the conference's No. 1 seed.

But Jacksonville's fortunes quickly turned around as Lawrence played big and the offense performed well.

The Jaguars' overtime loss at home to the Bengals on December 4 began a four-game losing streak that included losses to the Browns, at home to the Ravens, and to the Buccaneers.

Despite missing Lawrence due to a shoulder injury in last Sunday's game, the Jaguars defeated the Panthers 26-0 with CJ Beathard under center.

On Sunday, the Jaguars took control of their own destiny, but instead of building on last season's run to the divisional round, the Jaguars now face a number of questions following a late-season slide.
