Jake Gyllenhaal ‘clocked in the face’ by Conor McGregor filming ‘Road House’

Jake Gyllenhaal has a long list of accomplishments, but the Hollywood star can now add getting punched by UFC superstar Conor McGregor to that list.

Gyllenhaal, who co-stars with an MMA fighter in the remake of the 1989 film “Road House,” appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Monday night and said he was filming a scene during a scene. He revealed that McGregor accidentally hit him.

“By mistake, he punched the clock in my face,” Gyllenhaal explained. [of] I faked a fight and then watched the monitor to see what worked. ”

Gyllenhaal, whose credits include films such as Southpaw and Spider-Man: Far From Home, said the punch happened by chance during a 3 a.m. shoot when McGregor was “very close and talking to him.” .

“And he said, ‘Yeah, that left hook looks good, but when you do that, boom!’ And then he hit me by mistake,” Gyllenhaal said. That’s what happened. he said, recreating the shocked expressions on both his and McGregor’s faces at the time.

The A-list movie star said he returned the favor after accidentally hitting McGregor with his car door.

“Then I accidentally hit him in the face with a car door. No surprise,” Gyllenhaal continued, later adding that he never phased out mixed martial arts.

Gyllenhaal praised the work McGregor did with him and how helpful the 35-year-old was with him in working on the fight scenes.

“He’s always been great to me,” Gyllenhaal said. “He told me to do things like, ‘Oh, turn your hand around and move it a little more this way to make it look more realistic.’

A punch to the face wasn’t the only injury Gyllenhaal suffered while filming the movie, in which he plays a former UFC fighter who ends his fighting career and becomes a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys.

Gyllenhaal told Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert podcast. According to TMZ, While filming another fight scene, he cut his hand on glass and contracted a staph infection.

“Roadhouse” will begin streaming on Prime Video from March 21st.
