Jake Gyllenhaal Reveals Gruesome Injury He Suffered On Set Of Cult Classic Action Remake

Famous actor Jake Gyllenhaal has revealed that he suffered from a staph infection while filming a fight scene for the cult classic action movie Road House.

Gyllenhaal said he was injured on the set of the film’s remake, and explained the incident during a recent appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. he said to shepard Guest star Conor McGregor said he injured his hand and later developed an infection.

“We fight on the floor, we fight around the table, we fight around the glass,” Gyllenhaal said on the podcast. The bar fight scene quickly spiraled out of control. The actor said he “put his hand on the bar” on top of “straight glass.”

The actor said he was in severe pain at the time of the incident.

“I felt the glass move in my hands,” he said. “I remember that feeling. [and] “That’s a huge amount of glass,” I said.

Gyllenhaal said he was not alone and many people were injured during filming.

He said the cast was forced to wrestle with “stuff like that all the time” because scenes were needed to remake the original ’80s film starring Patrick Swayze.

Starr said that while the cuts on his hand were serious, he did not know which of the many cuts actually led to the staff member’s infection.

“I think that’s where it comes from, remember that scene where they come in with the pieces of wood?” he said on the podcast.

He said he reached for McGregor’s arm and thought, “Oh, maybe he’s hurt.” (Related: Anthony Anderson says he was rushed to the hospital after a ‘fight on a movie set went wrong’)

“But my whole arm got swollen. It turned out to be staph,” he added. “Thankfully, I was really, really trying to take care of my body while doing everything that we were doing and doing it. There were no major injuries.”
