Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis Exhibition Match Set

The next match for Jake Paul has officially been announced. The YouTuber-turned-boxer is set to face Gervonta “Tank” Davis in an exhibition match scheduled for November 14 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. This event is part of a series of high-profile fights that Netflix will be showcasing later this year, similar to the much-discussed bout involving Mike Tyson.

Currently, Paul boasts a record of 12 wins and 1 loss, with seven of those wins coming by knockout. He’s been vocal about his feelings toward Davis, saying, “Gervonta has been disrespecting my name for a long time. His nickname might be Tank, but I’m more like an FPV drone looking to take this kid down.” While he recognizes that Davis is among the top boxers, Paul maintains, “My motto is always to take on anyone, any time, and I like my chances.” He even went as far as to say, “I’m going to beat David.” It’s confident, if a bit brash, to say the least.

The matchup has drawn comparisons to other bigger names in the sport. Interestingly, there were discussions between Paul and heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, but those talks seemed to fizzle out, reportedly due to network conflicts.

As for Davis, he’s an undefeated fighter, though his last bout—which ended with a draw—had some controversy attached to it, having taken place against Lamont Roach in March at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Another layer to this fight is the legal troubles Davis faced recently after being arrested in connection with a domestic issue. Fortunately for him, those charges were dropped when his ex-girlfriend opted not to pursue further action.

On the flip side, Paul recently celebrated a victory against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., winning by unanimous decision, which also led him to break into the World Boxing Association ranking.

Weight class dynamics are another intriguing aspect. Paul weighs at least 50 pounds more than the 5-foot-5 Davis, whose height stands at 6-foot-1. It’s a notable difference that might play a significant role in their match.

In addition to the upcoming fight between Paul and Davis, Netflix is also slated to host a match on September 13 between Canelo Alvarez and Terrence Crawford. It’s shaping up to be a busy and interesting season for boxing fans.
