Jake Paul undergoes a second surgery for his fractured jaw

Jake Paul Undergoes Second Jaw Surgery Following Boxing Match

Jake Paul is back in the news, but this time it’s not for anything related to the Olympics.

The once YouTuber, turned boxer, took to Instagram on Friday to share that he recently had a second surgery on his broken jaw. This came after he was knocked out by Anthony Joshua during a match last December.

In his post, he commented, “I had to have another surgery on my jaw. The screws and plates came loose because obviously I hadn’t rested in the last two months. What the heck.”

The post featured slides from his hospital stay, showcasing a metal device around his mouth, along with a video of his fiancée, Olympic speed skater Jutta Lierdam, wheeling him around in a chair.

This surgery followed his first, which was necessary after Joshua knocked him out in the sixth round. After the fight, Joshua acknowledged Paul’s effort, especially considering he was an 8-1 underdog and was giving away 27 pounds and 5 inches in height.

During a post-match interview, Paul had predicted that his jaw was “definitely broken.”

Despite the injury, he stated, “I feel good. It was fun. I love this sport and it was a lot of fun,” even while dealing with blood vomiting.

This defeat dropped Paul’s record to 12-2, while Joshua’s improved to 29-4.

In another update on X, Paul shared an X-ray confirming that both of his jaws were fractured and joked about being ready to fight Canelo Alvarez in ten days.

He later posted a lighthearted video on Instagram, lip-syncing to a line from “Ted”: “I’m a little crazy, but will you take care of me forever?” His brother Logan was by his side during his hospital recovery.

Recently, Paul also mentioned his trip to Milan to cheer on Lierdam at the Olympics. Representing the Netherlands, she earned gold in the 1,000m and silver in the 500m, which brought Paul to tears of joy as he celebrated her 1,000m victory.

While his recovery timeline is uncertain, Paul remains optimistic about returning to boxing. After the second surgery, he stated, “We’re going to get our broken jaws fixed and come back and fight people at our weight. I’m aiming for the cruiserweight world title.”
