CNN host Jake Tapper on Monday accused Democrats of using Orwellian tactics to mislead the American public about President Joe Biden’s intellectual capacity.
At the show’s opening, Tupper Called He accused Democrats of a “clear pattern” of lying to the public, claiming party leaders want Americans “not to believe what their eyes and ears saw and heard on Thursday night.”
“The Party told you to reject the evidence of what your eyes and ears heard. That was their final, most important command.”
Later, after playing footage of Biden struggling to answer a question during a presidential debate, Tapper quoted author George Orwell to warn the audience about Democratic tactics.
“Democrats have tried to whitewash this in many ways,” Tapper said, “but behind the scenes, make no mistake: most Democrats witnessed the same shocking thing you did: the front-runner, the current president of the United States, having difficulty articulating even the most basic of his positions for 90 minutes of debate.”
“The spinning is reminiscent of a quote from George Orwell’s ‘1984,’” he says. Added.
The quote, which Tapper said “still applies today,” reads:
The Party commanded you to reject the evidence of what your eyes and ears had heard. That was their final and most important command.
The power of this quote cannot be underestimated.
In the dystopian world of Orwell’s 1984, the so-called “Party” imposes its truth on the people, where two and two equal five, war is peace, and freedom is slavery. These logical assertions are obviously false, yet they are “true” in that world.
What Tapper is saying is that the Democrats and Biden campaign are lying directly to the American people. The eyes and ears of the American people are please do not Trick them.
Post-debate polls suggest that, contrary to Democrats’ wishes, Americans trust their instincts.
For example, a CBS News poll found that roughly three-quarters of Americans believe Biden shouldn’t run for reelection and that he doesn’t have the cognitive capacity to serve a second term as president. Meanwhile, a new CNN poll found that: Show Donald Trump holds a sizeable lead over Biden, and voters believe other Democrats are a better challenger to Trump than Biden.
