The Knicks' blockbuster trade for Karl-Anthony Towns left star point guard Jalen Brunson bittersweet.
Brunson reflected Monday on the departures of All-Star Julius Randle and close friend Donte DiVincenzo, both of whom will be traded to the Timberwolves in a deal.
“That was definitely tough. I appreciate Julius welcoming me here with open arms. That news was crazy,” Brunson said at Knicks media day. “I'm so grateful to them and their friendship and everything they brought to this team. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Julius. The memories we made together were so much fun. is.
“Donte, he was a groomsman at my wedding. That should tell you everything you need to know about our relationship. Love him to death.”

The Knicks will also send Daquan Jeffries and a lottery-protected first-round pick from the Pistons to Minnesota in a trade, but that had not yet been officially announced as of Monday morning.
Brunson and Randle played together for two seasons, and Brunson, DiVincenzo, Josh Hart and new recruit Nick Mikal Bridges all played together at Villanova.
