James Carville admits he’s ‘scared to death’ about election day

Democratic strategist James Carville said Wednesday he was worried about Election Day and called on Vice President Kamala Harris to be more aggressive in the coming weeks.

“The only thing I feel is that the election is coming up on November 5th. I'm scared to death,” he told MSNBC's Ari Melber. “I'm very, very worried.”

Carville argued that Harris actually only has about 20 days to get her message out, as Hurricane Milton is likely to dominate coverage for the next few days.

“They have to be sharp. They have to be aggressive. They have to stop answering questions and start asking questions. They do all this and sit on '60 Minutes' and say, I'm sitting with Colbert, I'm sitting – no matter what, if I'm on your show, you're going to ask me questions, if I'm doing a press conference, I can ask questions. ” he said.

“Do you want to see her do more press conferences?” Melber asked.

Carville said he wants Harris to host more events and control the narrative.

“She's saying, 'What is J.D. Vance saying that Trump saved Obamacare? He tried to destroy Obamacare in every way.'” He would be out, but he only has a 92% approval rating from Democrats. He's just the author and father of 23 million insured people,” Carville said.

Obama will campaign for Harris in Pennsylvania on Thursday.

Carville also argued that Democrats are not doing enough to counter the message of the Trump-Vance campaign.

“And I think she and the entire campaign need to be much more active and less passive than they are,” he said.

Harris has yet to hold a formal press conference in the 81 days since she became the Democratic nominee following President Biden's withdrawal from the race.

Carville said on her “Political War Room” podcast last week that Harris should go after Vance and Trump over their comments on Obamacare. He called Vance's claims “a blatant lie” and repeatedly asked why Harris didn't go to the media herself to talk about the matter.

“Why isn't Harris herself talking about it today?” Carville said on the podcast. “Get out of there! Move, move, move!”
