Democratic strategist James Carville said Monday that President Biden is considering using the coalition he formed in 2020 in the 2024 campaign, citing a lack of support from young, non-white voters. He warned that he had no intention of reproducing it.
“I think the polls are a little bit better,” Carville told MSNBC’s Ari Melber. “But we’re not going to repeat the 2020 coalition. Most people think we’re going to lose Hispanic men. Young black men are becoming less involved in this process, and that’s happening rapidly. That’s a big concern to me.”
Carville has repeatedly warned Democrats about a lack of support among young minority voters, saying “male isolation” is a big problem in the United States.
“I think President Biden has a chance of winning the election, but from the perspective of identifying a political party and building a party in the future, I think it’s important to think about the division of men in the United States, especially men among the so-called non-nationals.” “The division between white men and women is a serious issue,” he said.

The Democratic strategist spoke with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd in March and said, “Wokeness is killing the Democratic Party.”
“My suspicion is that too many women are preachy,” she said, later calling them “killjoys who say, ‘Don’t drink beer, don’t watch football, don’t eat hamburgers, this is not good.'” characterized. for you. ‘”
She continued: “The message ‘Everything you’re doing is destroying the planet, you have to eat peas’ is too feminine.”
Carville also accused party and media “elites” of ignoring Democratic male voters, saying, “NPR is my go-to place to listen to what Democratic elites have to say, but the whole story is… It’s about how women and women of color behave.” will decide this election. ”
Rebuking this stance, he told Dowd, “I’m like, ‘48% of the people who vote are men. Can we give them some consideration?'”

Carville appeared to double down on his warning that nonwhite male voters will be a problem for Democrats on Monday’s podcast, “Carville’s Classroom.”
“I’ve been very vocal about this,” Carville said. “The numbers among young voters, especially young blacks, young Latinos…young people of color are frightening, especially men.”
Biden’s approval rating among Black voters was 63%, down 24 points from 87% in 2020, according to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll released in January.
