James Carville Claims Antifa Doesn’t Exist
On a recent episode of “Political War Room,” Democratic strategist James Carville made headlines by asserting that Antifa is a non-existent entity. This statement sparked a heated discussion, especially considering Antifa’s notoriety during the summer 2020 protests in various cities, notably Seattle and Portland.
In a clip shared on Politicon’s YouTube channel, Carville pointed out that Antifa lacks an official leadership structure, comparing it to something amorphous like “steam.” He questioned, “I don’t know who Antifa is. Do you want to punch the president of Antifa? Give me his address. Where can I find this son of a bitch? … Where is the headquarters? Who is the board of directors?”
Carville continued, emphasizing, “There’s no such thing as Antifa. That’s like attacking steam. I mean, I’m serious… They keep looping this, but it doesn’t exist. It’s not an organization. It’s nothing!”
This sentiment isn’t unique to Carville. Other Democrats and commentators from major media outlets have similarly claimed that Antifa does not function as an organized group. For instance, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel remarked, “There is no such thing as Antifa. This is a completely fictitious organization. Antifa does not exist.”
In contrast, former President Donald Trump designated Antifa as a “domestic terrorist organization” through an executive order in September. He called for his administration to probe and disrupt any illegal activities connected to Antifa, which, just days ago, led to the Department of Justice initiating the first federal terror case against individuals allegedly involved in an attack on a federal immigration facility in Texas.
Moreover, on October 8, Trump proposed designating Antifa as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). That same day, the White House held a roundtable discussion with independent journalists who shared their experiences of violence encountered while covering Antifa protests.
