James Carville criticizes Ilhan Omar for her 2018 remarks about the ‘radicalization of White men’

Democratic strategist James Carville criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar on Wednesday regarding her statements about white men from 2018. He expressed that controversial figures like her create more issues for Democrats than they’re worth.

Carville pointed out, “Ilhan Omar claims white men are behind most deaths in the US. Let’s clarify this: 69% of voters are white, and 48.5% are male.” He made these remarks during the Harry Evans Investigative Journalism Summit held in London.

In an old interview, Omar suggested that the US should “terrify” white men and implement policies aimed at countering the radicalization among them. This interview resurfaced recently on social media, leading to backlash from several GOP members, including Vice President JD Vance.

Carville mentioned, “This strategy irritates a third of the voting population. And there are indeed those who support her! Honestly, I think this group is more trouble than they’re worth.”

Omar stated, “I think our nation should be more cautious of white men because they’re responsible for the majority of the deaths in this country.” In the interview, she discussed domestic terrorism threats in the US and compared the impact of “jihadism” on the nation.

She further added that if fear drives the policies to enhance safety in America, then monitoring white men could be part of that approach against radicalization.

Her comments were labeled by Vance and other conservatives as akin to “genocide language.” Vance remarked, “It’s not just inflammatory; it conveys a language of genocide. How dishonorable can someone be?”

Omar responded to the critics, stating, “The clip highlights the rise of white nationalism amidst claims that white supremacists (are responsible for) 78% of extremist-related murders. You should really understand what ‘genocide’ means, especially when you support the actual genocide happening in Gaza.”

In another encounter, Omar addressed the figures surrounding fellow Democrats visiting El Salvador to assist illegal immigrant Kilmer Abrego Garcia, previously expelled by the Trump administration, asserting them to “f— off.” This clip was shared on social media by reporter Mile Morell. Omar later reiterated her stance on social media, saying, “I said what I said. You and all your miserable trolls can f— off.”
