Democratic Strategists Critique 2024 Election Autopsy
Last week, veteran Democratic strategist James Carville and his co-host Al Hunt took a jab at the Democratic Party’s recent analysis of their 2024 election losses. They seemed to agree that the reasons for the defeat were fairly obvious.
After a year and a half since the 2024 election, the Democratic National Committee rolled out a lengthy 192-page report aimed at examining the party’s inability to hold onto the presidency and effectively campaign nationwide.
In their criticisms, Carville and Hunt highlighted how the report warned against “woke” policies, stressing that this should not be overlooked.
Hunt, during the “Political War Room” podcast, described the autopsy as a total failure, saying, “Even mentioning that seems like an understatement.” He pointed out that he intentionally avoided discussing Biden’s age or Kamala Harris’s campaign issues.
While recognizing the potential usefulness of analyzing digital advertising, Hunt emphasized that the key problems were Biden being absent from the race too long and Harris’s inadequate candidacy.
Carville chimed in, agreeing and stating that one major point to scrutinize is the staggering $2 billion that Harris’s campaign spent from Labor Day to Election Day. He questioned the effectiveness of this expenditure, wondering why the campaign did not capture more votes on Election Day, indicating something was off.
He clarified that he wasn’t accusing anyone of misusing the funds, yet he raised concerns about the inefficiency of the expenditure and why it seemingly failed to engage persuadable voters.
He expressed frustration about the spending, labeling it as perhaps the “most inefficient $2 billion ever spent.” Carville questioned the allocation of these funds and pondered whether there were better strategies that could have been employed.
Drawing a parallel to an aviation accident, he remarked that in such cases, it’s crucial to analyze what went wrong—whether it was due to mechanical failures, human errors, or other factors—rather than simply looking ahead and dismissing the past. He concluded that this situation highlighted significant incompetence among Washington Democrats, leaving one to wonder if there is any path forward from here.
Fox News Digital attempted to reach out to the offices of Harris and Biden for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
