Longtime Democratic strategist James Kerrville laments that Democrats have lost this basic purpose, saying that the party “exist for one reason, and that's to win the election.”
“When they lose the election, people lose their faith in them,” Kerrville said Monday in an interview with News Nation.”Cuomo. ”
“The Democrats are the party for those who are trying to make it, and (they) are the party for those who have made it,” he added. “When you have that dichotomy, everything flows from it.”
Kerrville, once a senior adviser to former President Clinton, expressed his dissatisfaction with what he described as the party's “bearing identity” wing, saying their approach contributed to democratic losses. He challenged progressive critics to prove the viability of the election before claiming to represent the party's future.
“If one of these people defeated a Republican, I would give anything,” Kerrville said. “When someone in your identity leaves, or when someone comes along with all these grounds [ideas] – Please me: defeat the Republicans, and I respect you. ”
The veteran strategist predicted that the party's image would improve with election victory, and said victory in Wisconsin and Virginia would significantly boost the Democratic position.
He said the party needs to be “an effective and clever opposition party and not a cry and screaming, but an effective and clever opposition party.
