James Comey Shares Connection to Taylor Swift’s Music

Former FBI director James Comey expressed a profound connection to Taylor Swift’s music, recounting an interesting story about her attending several of her concerts during her youth.

Comey reflected, saying, “Taylor Swift grew up with my family. She provided a soundtrack as we navigated life’s ups and downs; every moment had a song to accompany it.” He emphasized that Swift’s artistry resonates not just for its quality but also for the role she plays in modeling appropriate behavior for his children.

“At various stages in her career, she’s connected with my child in ways that felt right to me as a parent,” he elaborated, sharing how Swift’s music portrays the struggle against negativity without letting it change one’s character.

Citing recent developments, Comey mentioned California Governor Gavin Newsom’s new social media strategy, expressing his discomfort with aspects of political behavior he associates with Trump followers. He remarked, “I often feel uneasy because I don’t want to align with that mentality. There are certainly more kind-hearted people out there.” Then, he returned to discussing Swift.

After attending a Swift concert in Hartford about 14 years ago, he recalled a poignant moment when she sang about, “Why did you become so mean?”—a lyric that resonated strongly with him.

In a response, host Liz Wheeler expressed her disbelief, stating, “Wow, he’s really just airing out his emotions like that. Look at him in that video!” She found it peculiar for a 50-year-old man to express such admiration for a young pop star, questioning his intentions further.
