Professor James Orr Appointed Policy Director for Reform Britain
Professor James Orr, a theologian at the University of Cambridge and supporter of the UK’s MAGA movement, has been selected by Brexit envoy Nigel Farage to oversee policy development for the Reform Britain Party. This party seeks to challenge the existing Westminster system.
Dr. Orr, who has served as an adviser to Farage since October, will be stepping into the role of policy director for the Reform Party, succeeding Zia Youssuf, who was named shadow home secretary earlier this week.
In a statement addressing the audience, Dr. Orr shared: “As a senior adviser to Nigel Farage, I have witnessed their determination to rebuild a broken Britain. In the months ahead, Zia Youssuf will enhance our party’s policy development, and I’m thrilled to be taking over as head of policy.”
“Alongside Danny Kruger, who leads PrepGov, I aim to establish a serious policy framework for British politics, enabling our shadow cabinet to govern effectively. Britain requires fresh ideas. Reform is essential.”
Dr. Orr, an associate professor of religious philosophy, has attracted criticism from traditional media for his strong Christian views, notably his anti-abortion stance, which some journalists label extreme.
His connections with U.S. figures like Vice President J.D. Vance and former Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk have become topics of interest for left-leaning British media, suggesting that they illustrate Reform Britain’s radical leanings.
While others have referred to Mr. Orr as Vance’s “British Sherpa,” he prefers the term “mentor,” noting their growing camaraderie as he works to shape a modern right-wing ideology.
During a speech at America Fest earlier this year, Dr. Orr echoed Mr. Vance’s sentiments, stating, “A nation is more than just an abstract idea; it’s shaped by its people and their culture.”
“In essence, a nation is like a home, governed by rules. While guests are welcomed, they must respect the home. They shouldn’t expect others to conform to their language or customs.”
“The dynamics have shifted since 2016 with Brexit and Trump’s election. The traditional left-right political landscape has transformed. We are entering a new era, characterized by individuals committed to their political ideologies above all else.”
Professor Orr has voiced strong opposition to mass immigration to the UK, asserting that a dominant ethnic group is crucial for societal well-being. He has raised concerns regarding modern liberalism, which he believes undermines indigenous populations while favoring minority groups.
In a piece written last April, he stated: “Unregulated mass migration negatively impacts our society, harming working-class wages and overloading public services. It supports criminal enterprises in human trafficking and drug distribution, affecting thousands of lives each year.”
He expressed that such migration erodes public trust and disrupts shared cultural heritage—traditions, language, and norms—making them increasingly difficult to uphold. Moreover, it detracts from the countries of origin by depleting them of their most capable individuals, often worsening their economic struggles.
