James Van Der Beek Passes Away at 48

James Van Der Beek has sadly passed away at the age of 48, as announced by his wife on social media. He had been battling colorectal cancer.

Van Der Beek rose to fame in the 1990s, particularly known for his role in the movie “Varsity Blues” and the hit series “Dawson’s Creek.” His career included various other projects like “CSI: Cyber” and “Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23.”

In a heartfelt post, his wife shared, “Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed away peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith and grace.” She mentioned that there was much to share about his love for humanity and his wishes. The family is asking for privacy as they mourn their husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly, and their six children.

In November 2024, Van Der Beek publicly revealed his cancer diagnosis in an interview. He later participated in a special event titled “The Real Full Monty,” aimed at raising awareness about prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancers. He expressed optimism about his condition, saying, “I have personally dealt with this diagnosis and, with the support of my wonderful family, have taken steps toward resolution.” He also mentioned feeling good despite the challenges.

His final appearance on television was during an interview on “Today” on December 19, where he talked about the arduous journey he faced while dealing with his illness. He reflected on his strength, saying, “I knew I was strong, but I didn’t know I was this strong.”

On another note, in a May 30, 2023, Instagram post, Van Der Beek voiced his frustrations regarding the Democratic National Committee’s decision not to facilitate a debate addressing health concerns involving former President Biden and former Senator Dianne Feinstein.
